So now that the NFL season is done and I don’t need to pop any pills since the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles are all in the same boat with us – they lost their last game – I can start focusing on our off-season.
I’ve begun hearing rumors about NFL free-agents and the uncapped year and all that.
So hear are the people I don’t want to come to the Redskins. Some may be obvious, some may not be.
I don’t want the following people:
Michael Vick, Julius Peppers, Donte Stallworth, Brandon Marshall, Chester Taylor or Jay Cutler.
I am only interested in offensive lineman who are free-agents, but of those who are unrestricted and who are good (i.e. Bobbie Williams from Cincinnati and Chad Clifton from Green Bay), none is younger than 34. I don’t want to trade for any of them because I want us to use our draft picks. And of course, I don’t want to sign anyone’s restricted free-agents of which there are many because of the uncapped year.
So basically, I want none of the above for the time being.
Use all of our spending flexibility to cut folks whose contracts are hefty and who are old. Maybe Cornelius Griffin, maybe Phillip Daniels, definitely Randle-El, maybe Casey Rabach if we can get someone to replace him. Obviously Samuels will go too.
So right now, my wish list is simple – don’t add, just cut and let’s wait ’till April.
